Shortly after the 25th anniversary of the AMIA headquarters explosion, the government confirmed that it was preparing "for the next few days" a Decree to include in the Register of Terrorist Organizations organizations "concretely presumed" after committing "attacks" in Argentina, as in the case of Hezbollah.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, at a press conference held at Casa Rosada, following the Cabinet meeting led by President Mauricio Macri.

"The registration decree of entities related to terrorism is being drafted," said the minister, adding that "significant progress" had been made regarding "a regulatory decree of the FIU Act and the possibility of freeze the badets of international terrorist groups ".

The announcement will be made as part of the commemoration of the attack, which also provides for the arrival in the country of Mike Pompeo, Secretary of State of the United States., to attend the central act of Thursday 18 in Pasteur Street and to hold a bilateral meeting with Macri.

The US official will also participate in the "Second Hemispheric Ministerial Conference on the Fight against Terrorism", to be held on July 19 at the San Martín Palace.

  • The official initiative was officially announced this Thursday, a week after the 25th anniversary of the AMIA attack, which occurred on July 18, 1994, with a balance of 85 dead.

"It works" so that "the list is composed of organizations that have concrete presumptions, red alerts, specific accusations of having committed attacks on the Argentine territory, that this decree will raise.", said the security portfolio manager.

In this regard, he said: "We join the United Nations list, to which almost all countries adhere, and we will add terrorist organizations or armed groups of organizations with activities in Argentina."

In addition, Bullrich explained that "when a country requests the freezing of badets, there must be sufficient reasons or the mediation of organizations like Interpol to move it forward".
