The discovery took place on the Italian coast overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, where they found the whale, according to the World Wildlife Foundation organization.
Thursday, March 28, impressive images have arrived from Italy. In them, it looks like a crane rises from shore waters to a heavy whale eight meters that appeared dead on the coast of Sardinia, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
The most brutal discovery came later, when marine biologists badyzed the body of the huge sperm whale and found that the young woman was pregnant and had 22 kg of plastic in her stomach.
This has been reported by the World Wildlife Foundation, an organization dedicated to the preservation of marine life around the world, which has already issued several alerts regarding the presence of plastic in the oceans. This is the fourth event of this type reported since November.
Disposable plates were found in the animal's stomach, a corrugated tube used for electrical installations, supermarket bags, garbage bags and even a detergent container with the mark and code to bars always recognizable, among other rubbish debris.
The whale was carrying a dead fetus in a state of advanced decomposition. Experts said the cetacean was unable to digest squid because of the large amount of plastic ingested that occupied two-thirds of its stomach.
In dialogue with the newspaper La Stampa, the biologist Cinzia Centelegghe of the University of Padua said: "It's the first time we find an animal with such a large amount of waste."
