“We are awaiting the doses of Covax which arrive tomorrow and the start of the realization of the direct contract with AstraZeneca with doses which arrive from Monday”, explained the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, while assuring that “we have also this week two flights from Russia, of Sputnik V with a large number of doses ”.

At the Federal Health Council (COFESA), Minister Vizzotti announced to her provincial counterparts that Argentina will receive 3,960,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine against the coronavirus during the month of May.

“These doses correspond to the contract the country signed with AstraZeneca in November 2020 and will give new impetus to the national vaccination plan against the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus,” the presidency said in a statement.

In this context, the national government specified that “the doses which will soon arrive in the country are part of a total of 22,400,000 doses of vaccines that Argentina has acquired thanks to a contract of advance sale purchase held on November 6, 2020 “.

During a message recorded and broadcast on the national channel to announce the new restrictions in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, President Alberto Fernández affirmed that Russia “is normalizing the delivery of vaccines”, and clarified: “We are waiting for a another million (doses of Sputnik V Vaccine) for the next few days. “
