The Chilean navy has been alerted by a swell that will affect the coast between Sunday afternoon and Thursday, with waves up to 3.5 meters.
The waves will affect the coast of the country, between Arica and the Gulf of Penas (Aysén), as well as the archipelago of Juan Fernández.
The phenomenon is caused by strong winds in the ocean area.
The report states that the worst conditions will be generated during high tide periods, where waves could cause damage to people or infrastructure.
The navy asked the community not to go unnecessarily to the coastal border for the duration of the event.
The Chilean naval authorities have indicated that the wave train "would not exceed more than about 3.5 meters", which would not constitute an abnormal swell.
The event is expected to last until Tuesday between Golfo de Penas and Constitución; until Wednesday between Constitución and Coquimbo; also until Wednesday to Juan Fernández and until Thursday between Coquimbo and Arica.
