Argentina has officially abandoned Unasur

After having participated in the creation of the Forum for the Progress of South America (Prosur), Argentina has left the Union of Nations of South America (UNASUR), created by Presidents Cristina and Néstor Kirchner, Brazilian Luiz Inacio "Lula" Da Silva, Ecuadorean Rafael Correa, Bolivian Evo Morales and Venezuelan Hugo Chávez, among others.

After the political changes of the regional governments, the agency went into a paralysis that brought Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Ecuador to announce that They would no longer be part of the union.

For the government of Mauricio Macri, the measure was finalized this Friday with the sending of "a communication addressed to the Republic of Ecuador in its capacity as depositary and a detailed note to the President Pro Tempore of that regional organization, the Chancellor of the Plurinational State of Bolivia", Fernando Huanacuni.

"This decision was made in the context of the crisis in the organization, which has been manifested by the gloom of the General Secretariat for more than two years, as well as by an agenda with a high ideological content far removed from its original objectives. of the administrative mess that prevailed in the organization in recent times", said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship.
