The Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency (ALCE) was established today during the VI Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), after the signing of the constitutive agreement by the member countries, including Argentina. The objective of the agency is the “integral and sustainable development of the space domain” in the region, in addition to “promoting national technological development”.
“The Convention creates the I RAISED as an international organization for peaceful purposes, for the benefit of cooperation between Member States, without discrimination, in exploration, research and space technology activities and their applications, which contribute to and strengthen integral and sustainable development of the region’s space domain ”, communicated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship.
“The idea of a regional space agency is a long-standing aspiration of Argentina and has been included in the National spatial plans since the early 2000s, ”he added.
From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they added that Argentina “is convinced of the importance of space exploration” for the national technological development and thus contributes to the achievement of the objective Sustainable Development Goals.
“Argentina expresses its commitment to make progress in consolidating the I RAISED with the certainty that it constitutes a new stage in regional integration and will bring benefits to all the inhabitants of Latin America and the Caribbean ”, they stressed.
