The decision will guarantee the export of steel products to the EU market only between 2012 and 2017, business figure recorded for 188 million euros, according to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In March 2018, the European Commission launched an investigation to the application of safeguard measures for virtually all imports of steel products and more than 300 tariff items were grouped into 28 product groups under investigation.

As the investigation is ongoing, Argentina has succeeded in seeking and baderting its right to be excluded from the application of said measures, which included an additional customs duty of 25% and that the country should not consider for its steel exports.
