Argentinian grill Don Julio was voted best restaurant in Latin America 2020

The Grill Don Julio, located in the district of Palermo, was chosen as best Latin American restaurant 2020 in the prestigious ranking 50 Best Restaurants. For the first time, an Argentinian restaurant was at the top of this regional list. And, significantly, it turns out to be a place specializing in roast meats, which is intrinsically linked to the National Palace.

Last year, Don Julio became the only Argentinian restaurant to enter the list of the 50 best in the world, run by Mirazur, the restaurant on the Côte d’Azur run by Argentinian Mauro Colagreco. In the 2019 world rankings, the grill of Argentinian sommelier and businessman Pablo Rivero was ranked 34th.

Rivero, son and grandson of Rosario breeders, opened the restaurant in 1999 when he was in his early twenties. Over two decades, her establishment’s reputation has grown for the excellence of its cuisine and the quality of the meat it serves, sourced from Aberdeen Angus and Hereford cattle, and kept in the refrigerator until it reaches optimum maturity.

In this year crossed by the coronavirus pandemic, Don Julio had to close its doors for several months due to the coronavirus pandemic, reinventing himself by selling wines from his cellar and even turning himself into a butcher’s shop. However, 2020 ends with the best news: the prestigious jury of the 50 best placed it at the top of the continental ranking.

The second place was taken by the Peruvian restaurant Maido, what was that moved from the first place he reached last year.
