Argentinian tourist stranded in Miami died after falling from 14th floor of tower

A stranded Argentine tourist died falling from the 14th floor of a Miami apartment building on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Gonzalo says (47), who was in this city with his wife and two daughters, and was waiting for a plane to return to the country amid flight cancellations due to restrictions against the Delta variant of the coronavirus.

According to the media Argentinian weekly, Diz and his family had an appointment to return home yesterday, Monday, but they had to return to the apartment they occupied 19370 Collins Avenue shortly after the flight was canceled in which they had to return to the country.

Police are currently investigating why Diz fell from the 14th floor around 7:00 p.m. of this building in Sunny Isles.

Diz worked as Deputy General Manager of the Business Development Zone of Banco Provincia de Buenos Aires, where he worked since 2012 and where he had made a career in various positions.

It was defined as a “Engine of innovation as a path to growth” and “generator of new initiatives in public organizations and in the business environment”.

He trained as a chartered accountant at the University of Buenos Aires and specialized in finance and capital markets. He was currently doing an online major at Harvard Business School.

He had served on the boards of directors of companies linked to the official bank, such as Provincia Seguros SA and Mercado Abierto Electrónico SA.

The tragedy of this family is known a few days after the collapse of the building in which were also Argentinian victims.

The latest data updated after the collapse shows 11 deaths, while 9 Argentines are still missing.

They are the surgeon Andrés Galfrascoli, his partner Fabián Nuñez and their daughter; four members of the Cattarossi family; as well as Ilan Naibryf (he disappeared with his Puerto Rican girlfriend Deborah Berezdivin) and Nicole “Nicky” Langesfeld.

Argentines blocked by restrictions to enter the country

The measure put in place by the government, which only allows the arrival of 600 passengers per day since Monday, has triggered strong criticism, chaos in airlines and fear among passengers, especially those who are already in abroad and must return.

The national government defended the measure and assured that more than a hundred countries have restrictions on the entry of passengers. According to the Our World in Data website, Argentina is among the states with the most restrictions.

Amid a vaccination campaign the government is seeking to speed up, the new entry quota aims to delay the arrival of the Delta variant, which is causing much concern for its contagion capacity and that this could complicate the health situation in Argentina much more.
