Southern California office building shooting killed four, including a child and one injured before police fired on the suspect, authorities said.

Shots were fired as police arrived at the two-story Lincoln Avenue building in Orange around 5:30 p.m., Lt. Jennifer Amat reported.

“There was a shooting with the police involved” and the suspect was taken to hospital, said Amat, who was unaware of his condition.

The shooting took place on the second floor of the building, Amat said. According to local media, the bodies were on the second floor walkway and in a courtyard.

Amat had no details of the confrontation, what could have sparked the attack or why there was a child at 202 West Lincoln Avenue. Signs outside the property indicated the presence of various businesses, including insurance brokerage, financial advice, legal advice and a cell phone repair shop.

By 7 p.m., the situation had stabilized and there was no risk to the public, police said.

In a tweet, California Governor Gavin Newsom called the killings “gruesome and heartbreaking.”

“Our hearts go out to the families affected by this terrible tragedy”, wrote.

A live Facebook feed, posted by a resident who lives near the building, showed officers removing one person standing still and helping another, the Orange County Register reported. On the show, the police could be seen taking two pistols from someone lying on the ground. Authorities took away two people in chains, the newspaper added.

This is the last mass shooting in the United States in the past two weeks. Ten people were killed at a supermarket in Boulder, Colo. Last week and eight more – including six Asian women – at three Atlanta massage centers a week earlier.

According to Amat, the shooting was the worst in town since December 1997, when a man armed with an assault rifle attacked a California Department of Transportation maintenance center and killed four people before being killed. by the police.

The city of Orange is located approximately 30 miles southeast of Los Angeles and has a population of approximately 140,000.

Among the dead is a minor and, among the injured, the alleged perpetrator, according to NBC Angels.

Police reported that a police shooting took place at a shopping complex around 5:30 p.m. local time and that the situation had now “stabilized”.
