Bakery printed hundreds of cookies with thief’s face and forced police to arrest him

A sweet, viral revenge was forged by a bakery in Milwaukee (US) after a man entered their premises and stole their cash register.

The theft took place on Monday April 19 at Canfora-Lakeside Bakery. According to the criminal complaint, an employee arrived at the bakery late at night to get ready for Tuesday, when they found the cash register was missing.

Investigators obtained security camera footage showing a suspect unscrewing a wall safe and using a key to enter the bakery through a side door.

Video from inside the bakery showed the same suspect pulling out the cash register and leaving the premises.

The pictures revealed the thief’s face with acceptable clarity, so the owners of the premises had a peculiar idea to try to catch him: they baked his photo on the lids of their sugar cookies.

The bakery also used its networks and shared a post urging customers to report it. “The bakery was broken into on Monday April 19. So we made delicious sugar cookies with his photo on them! We invite the Bay View community to come and grab a bite of the thief while supplies last, one per family.They wrote on their Facebook.

The strategy worked. The image quickly went viral as many customers replicated the cookie photo on their social media and this helped the police receive information about the suspected thief.

Authorities learned from informants that the suspect was Dominick Kolp, a 45-year-old man from Milwaukee.. Investigators spoke to Kolp’s ex-wife, who identified him from security footage and claimed the man had severe drug addiction.

May 9Kolp was arrested after police said he jumped from a balcony on the ground floor of a hotel and was arrested when he landed on the ground.

According to the criminal complaint, Kolp denied entering the bakery, but claimed he jumped from the hotel balcony because he knew he was wanted in connection with the incident.

Kolp told authorities he had an open file for theft and had gone to the hotel to take drugs before surrendering. He is now charged with theft and evading authorities.

For its part, the bakery thanked all its customers for their help in finding the thief.: “You have been identified!” He wrote on his Facebook. “Thanks to everyone who responded.”

“Very creative in that regard … I bet the cops had a lot of fun at the photo and would gladly share photos of other criminals they particularly like.”One of his clients wrote in response to the social media post.
