BCRA Appoints New Deputy Director General of Economic Research

The board of directors of the central bank (BCRAdesign a Mauro Alessandro as new deputy director General of Economic Surveys, today informs the monetary authority.

Alessandro, awarded Economa by the University of Buenos Aires and a PhD in economics from the Mbadachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), was the winner of the internal and external public competition organized by the agency.

He has been Senior Policy and Communications Officer for the Central Bank's Monetary Policy since January 2017, where he led the Monetary Policy Report and contributed to the development of the Monetary Policy Communiqués. In addition, he has been an acting member of the Monetary Policy Committee since August 2018.

Joined the Central Bank in July 2010, he previously worked in the main management offices of economic research and risk badysis. He is currently Professor of Finance at Torcuato Di Tella University, Chief Financial Officer, in a statement.

The Central Bank explained that the functions of the General Directorate of Economic Research were to advise the President and the Board of Directors in the badysis and implementation of monetary policy.

Similarly, the Deputy Director participates in the work of the Monetary Policy Committee and prepares guidelines for monitoring the national and international economic situation, communicating monetary policy, producing and disseminating statistics, and the development of economic models for badysis of the country's economy.
