The US coast of Georgia has experienced an impressive sinking. A ship flying the South Korean flag and carrying more than 4,000 cars was damaged and turned around.
Hours after the accident, the authorities managed to save 20 of the 24 crew members (six South Koreans, 13 Filipinos and one American, ship pilot).
However, shortly thereafter, they managed to protect the four crew members – all South Koreans – who were aboard the GoldenRay, a length of 200 meters, said guards American coast. The flag ship of the Marshall Islands was carrying more than 4,000 cars of the Hyundai and Kia Motors brands.
According to footage published by the Coast Guard, an American helicopter landing on the ship and rescue crews investigated whether they could enter the ship by the bridge. However, the ship's fire, smoke and unstable cargo forced them to retreat.
The Coast Guard had been working since Sunday morning to rescue the four South Korean crew members who had not been able to leave the ship when they turned back at St. Simons Sound.
The last crew member to be rescued was trapped behind a window in a cargo control room. He had not eaten water or fresh food since the sinking of the ship, authorities said.
