Billionaire lawyer: Bill and Melinda Gates divorce to be handled by professional who handled Jeff Bezos case

This is certainly the perfect job for a family lawyer: two of the professionals working on the Bill and Melinda Gates divorce case also worked on Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott in 2019.

Ted billbe, who represented Scott in his divorce from Bezos, will represent Bill Gates in his case, CNN first reported. Sherri Anderson, who previously represented Bezos, will represent Melinda Gates.

Bill and Melinda Gates said the day before yesterday that they separated after 27 years of marriage because “they no longer believe we can grow up together,” in a statement Bill Gates shared on Twitter.

The couple never signed a prenuptial agreement, according to divorce records shared by TMZ, and they share their property and debts pursuant to a separation contract.

The divorce settlement could be one of the biggest in history, with Bill Gates’ net worth estimated at $ 146 billion, according to Bloomberg.

Billbe and Anderson are not listed as partners on their websites, but they work in the same office in Bellevue, WA. Court documents indicate a different address for Billbe, according to CNN.

Anderson handles many aspects of divorce cases, including those that cannot be resolved through the settlement process, according to his website, Business Insider noted.

Billbe’s website states that most of the cases his law firm deals with are divorces and that he “works on high estate” and “substantial family estate” cases.
