Bolivia reported 124 more deaths from COVID-19, a new daily record

Bolivia reported 124 deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday, setting a new daily death record, and recorded 2,571 new cases as the country is still going through the third peak of infections.

The eastern department of Holy Cross reported 57 deaths, followed by Cochabamba with 17 deaths, while Oruro and Potosí recorded 11 deaths, among the regions with the most deaths.

There was not similar number of deaths since June 2 when 115 deaths were reported.

While the regions with the highest number of infections that day were Holy Cross (838), Cochabamba (705) and The peace (337), the most populous and constituting the central axis of the country, something that has been a constant throughout this peak in infections.

The vaccination process was restored on Tuesday after the arrival of new batches of vaccine last weekend Sputnik V and AstraZeneca, with less influx of people compared to the previous week.

Vaccination in Bolivia has reached 1,572,351 first doses while 544,871 are the second applied since the start of this work at the end of January.

The government has established that vaccination should reach around 7.5 million people for which twice as many vaccines will be needed given the two doses that must be applied.

Since the start of the pandemic last March, 15,738 deaths and 411,677 confirmed cases of the disease have been recorded, of which 69,455 remain active.
