The Movement for Socialism (MAS) denounced having suffered a attack on its headquarters in La Paz, where Bolivia’s president-elect Luis Arce was located. “We condemn the attack on our country house in La Paz”, wrote former Bolivian President Evo Morales on Twitter, from Argentina where he had to take refuge after being forced to resign.

“Small groups try to generate a climate of confusion and violence, but they will not succeed. We will not fall into any provocation. Our revolution is peaceful and democratic, ”Morales published.

The MAS reproduced in a statement the statements of its spokesman Sebastián Michel in which he assured that this Thursday evening a group of people detonated a stick of dynamite against the party headquarters when Arce was inside at a meeting, without any injuries.

Michel described the event as an “attack”, in statements to the Televisión Universitaria and Red Uno networks, in which he regretted that the authorities did not speak out or did not guarantee security.

“We have not seen any statement on this from government minister Arturo Murillo, so we believe that we are at the mercy of ourselves, unprotected totally and no one gives us the necessary guarantee for the security of our authority, ”he said, quoted in the press release.

Bolivian police attended the scene, but as of yet, there is no official statement from the country’s de facto government.

Luis Arce’s inauguration as President of Bolivia is scheduled for next Sunday in La Paz, after winning the general election of October 18 with a large majority of 55.1% of the vote.

Arce’s victory was widely recognized inside and outside the country, including by his main political rivals in Bolivia and by the international community.

However, some areas of the country are demanding an audit of the elections exposing suspected fraud, which the electorate ruled out, arguing that the reliability of the result is endorsed by international observers.
