Bolivian President denounces Macri government before UN for “sending arms and ammunition” during 2019 political crisis

The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, condemned the participation of “national” and “international” actors in the political and institutional crisis triggered in his country after the resignation of Evo Morales in 2019. According to Arce, the collapse of constitutional order in Bolivia occurred because of the actions of “politicians who lack the support of the people at the ballot box, the poor police and armed forces, the Catholic hierarchy. and the media ”.

In this sense, the Bolivian President condemned the participation of the Organization of American States (OAS), “through its Secretary General, Luis Almagro” and “Other governments like the previous one in Argentina which sent arms and ammunition to the coup plotters”. He also assured that “representatives of the European Union and other non-governmental organizations” had played a role in the institutional breakdown.

“Our commitment to the Bolivian people is that justice be done for the 38 lives lost, the hundreds injured and for the human rights violations”, Arce raised before the General Assembly of the body.

In July of this year, the Bolivian government denounced that the administration of Mauricio Macri had sent “war material” with the alleged aim of collaborating in the repression of supporters of Evo Morales after the takeover of Jeanine Áñez.

Evidence of the alleged help that Macri’s leadership maintained was a note allegedly sent with the signature of General Jorge Gonzalo Terceros Lara, Commander General of the Bolivian Air Force, to the then Argentine Ambassador. in La Paz, Normando Álvarez García, where he was thanked for the “collaboration brought to this armed institution within the framework of international support between our countries due to the conflict situation in Bolivia”. The military letter was dated November 13, 2019, three days after confirmation of Evo Morales’ downfall in government, amid raw political violence that marked the milestone of the massacre of MAS supporters in the towns of Sacaba and Senkata during the war. interim management of Añez.
