President
Mauricio Macri announced that today, at 9:53, "sirens, bells and church bells in public spaces, official offices, schools and schools all over the country will be heard for one minute "to remember those who died in the attack on the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) on July 18, 1994.
"Twenty-five years after the attack, we maintain the commitment that justice be done for each of the victims, their families and all Argentines who deserve to know the truth," said the president.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the AMIA bombing, the Macri administration has made several gestures aimed at the Jewish community and the responsibility of Iran during of the attack, in which 85 people were killed and hundreds injured others.
This week,
The president has signed three decrees: the first provides for the creation of a register of terrorist organizations that will include
Hezbollah, syndicated by Argentine justice as the main perpetrator of the attack and attack against the Israeli Embbady in Buenos Aires, in March 1992. The government has completed this initiative by two others: the creation of July 18 as "national day of mourning" and the granting of compensation by the state to a dozen victims who had been excluded from previous agreements.
These measures coincide with the arrival in the country of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who will participate tomorrow at the anti-terrorism summit organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Pompeo will participate in the ceremony at the AMIA headquarters, Pasteur at 600, to pay tribute to the victims.
