Boston Red Sox receiver Christian Vazquez at DL with a pinkie injury

The Boston Red Sox placed receiver Christian Vazquez on the 10-day-injured list Sunday with a broken little right that he suffered slipping into the second base on Saturday night.

Vazquez made a double of the seventh inning of Boston. -4 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Saturday. He suffered the injury when he stole the second base. Sandy Leon replaced Vazquez at the receiver in the bottom of the eighth.

He has appeared in 60 games this season (54 starts) and he hits .213 with three home runs and 14 RBIs. He threw 31 percent of core thieves (8 out of 18) and has a commissioning percentage of 0.994. The Red Sox are 19-5 in the last 24 starts of Vazquez.

With Vazquez, Leon (.260, 4 HR, 18 RBI) will be the full-time starting catcher; Blake Swihart will be the replacement.

In other moves, the Red Sox placed left-handed runner Brian Johnson on the 10-day wounded list with left hip inflammation. The move is retroactive to Thursday.

Boston recalled right-wingers William Cuevas and Ryan Brasier of Triple-A Pawtucket in the corresponding movements.
