The Brazilian government on Tuesday formalized the ban on Venezuelan Chavez Administration officials from entering its territory.

He did it through an instruction prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice and published in the Official Journal, which does not include the list of people affected by the measure , reported the newspaper O Globo.

This is the first time that Brazil unilaterally adopts sanctions against another country, the paper said.

The provision is addressed to "The Venezuelan regime's senior officials who, by their actions, violate the principles and objectives of the Constitution, undermining democracy, the dignity of the human person and the prevalence of human rights. 39; man ".

The measure had been anticipated by the Chancellor Ernesto Araújo on the 6th of this month, at the International Conference for Democracy in Venezuela which was held in Lima, Peru.

Sources of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then explained that the decision was "in accordance with the recommendations of the Lima group" and stressed that Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Panama and Peru had already adopted similar measures.

Brazil is one of the 56 countries that do not know the mandate initiated last January by the president.
