Brazilian Minister of Health Marcelo Queiroga has again tested positive for covid-19 and will remain in New York, where he has been since September 21, when the virus was detected after the United Nations General Assembly.

Queiroga himself reported the new positive in a message posted this Friday on his social media. “Unfortunately, the RT-PCR test I did yesterday is still positive, which prevents me from returning to Brazil today. I continue to work remotely to speed up the vaccination of Brazilians “, he said.

The minister, confined to a hotel, tested positive in New York as he prepared to return home after joining the delegation that accompanied Bolsonaro to the United Nations General Assembly.

Among the 18 members of the official delegation, the MP also tested positive Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of the president, although in his case he was detected once he returned to Brasilia.

The same happened with the economist Pedro Guimarães, state president Caixa Económica Federal, who tested positive while already in the Brazilian capital, and with a diplomat who has not been identified.

In New York, Queiroga participated in various official activities, including a Bolsonaro meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and met other personalities, such as the former Chilean president Michelle bachelet, now United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

In addition, he circulated in the UN compound and in the streets of New York, where was seen with Bolsonaro and part of the Brazilian delegation eat pizza on a sidewalk, because the president could not enter the restaurants because he is not vaccinated.

In his speech to the General Assembly, Bolsonaro exposed all his denial, defended the use of remedies whose effectiveness against covid-19 is not proven and also expressed his firm rejection of the so-called “health passport “, already adopted by many countries and even by some 200 Brazilian municipalities.
