The cabinet formed by Jair Bolsonaro has an ideological purity very similar to that of the president elected in late 2018. In many cases, his ministers are even more rightist than him.
This was confirmed by the Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights, Damares Alves, when she spoke of the role of women in marriage.
"In my Christian conception, women are subject to men and it's a matter of faith," said Alves.
This sentence is framed in a series of unfortunate comments by one of the two women cabinet ministers in Bolsonaro – 22 ministerial posts, who said a few months ago that "children must wear light blue clothing and women in pink ".
In the same speech in which he talked about the subjugation of women, he baderted that in marriage "the man is the leader", but then dispelled his words by saying that "does not mean that all women must be subjected to the aggressor ".
After the turbulence generated in Brazil, the woman tried to mitigate his comments via Twitter: "The woman victim of violence must never be subjected, she must denounce the aggressor".
And he said that his words were "a question of freedom of religion, guaranteed by the Constitution".
