Buenos Aires and several provinces woke up without electricity

The city and province of Buenos Aires, as well as several regions of the country, are experiencing an unprecedented power cut in the middle of the day with four upcoming elections.

The interruption of supply affects the federal capital, the province of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Entre Rios, Córdoba, San Luis, Tucumán, Neuquén, La Pampa, Formosa, Corrientes and Jujuy, according to the first information .

"A mbadive blackout in the electrical interconnection system has left all the electricity in Argentina and Uruguay, we will expand with more information," was the only information provided by Edesur via Twitter.

For its part, the provincial energy company of Córdoba explained that "over 500 kV of the interconnected national system operated by Transener, there was a zero voltage restriction that affected a large part of the country, including the province of Córdoba, areas of Santa Fe, federal capital and province of Buenos Aires, work is under way to determine the reason for this failure.

The situation affects the train service, as well as public lighting and traffic lights. However, mobile networks continue to work.

It also jeopardizes the holding of provincial elections in San Luis, Santa Fe, Formosa and Tierra del Fuego, to be held this Sunday.

There are also cuts in Uruguay, Paraguay and southern Brazil.
