Buenos Aires hosts summit on cultural policy

What can culture do for the social balance of a community? To what extent can it help to strengthen your identity, promote equality, and even improve the connection between an urban environment and the protection of the environment?

Yes, these days, Buenos Aires will be the center of the global meeting of mayors, secretaries of culture and directors of many capitals of the worlddialogue and draw conclusions about the importance of culture (in the broadest sense) to improve the quality of life of communities.

This year, Buenos Aires has been chosen to host the "Summit of Cultural Cities". The organization calling the event is United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), a global platform of 800 cities, governments and local organizations.

"Cities are facing challenges of sustainable development and we are convinced that culture is the solution. The aim is to exchange good practices and to learn from each other ", explained the Minister of Culture of the City, Enrique Avogadro, at the opening ceremony of the summit together Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.

Some of the topics that will be discussed these days:Public Policy Issues in Culture, gender perspective, social transformationl – in terms of inclusion – that can manage cultural management, the importance of an independent culture, among others.
