India has become accustomed to surprises of all kinds.
Now a couple of farmers, Rani and Sankalp Parihar, in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, have sown by mistake and the fruits have been surprising.
The small plantation they have is a refined and highly sought after Japanese mango, the Miyazaki or “egg of the sun,” a highly sought-after variety in Japan, where they pay around $ 50 each.
Two unknown plants
Horticulturalists told the Hindustan Times that it all started years ago, when they planted two unknown plants, bought from a man they met on a train on a trip.
As they grew older, they observed that they were different from other mango tree trunks they knew. They chose to give them a chance and let them grow. Now they have no regrets.
When the fruit arrived, they were surprised by its texture and unusual ruby color. It was a type of mango they had never seen. They investigated and realized that the unusual fruit belonged to a Japanese variety known as Miyazaki, or “egg of the sun,” considered a luxury gift in the Japanese country.
Damini
These mangoes have a very intense red skin, due to their delicate texture and their very, very sweet taste.
“La pulpa es como una gelatina, el color es impresionante, e incluso se puede comer la piel”, revealed Parihar, quien confesó que el prefiere referirse to los Miyazaki como Damini, como los bautizó en honor a su madre antes de conocer su verdadero last name.
However, word of the luxurious Japanese fruits spread very quickly, and the criminals took notice and stole 14 of the “Sun Eggs”.
Now the gardeners have hired private security: four men and six dogs, to protect the two trees and the seven mango trees that have grown so far.
