Cali marches infiltrated by FARC dissidents: MinDefensa

Charges of infiltrators continue to appear in the marches against the leadership of the Colombian government. The complaints of civil organizations and the mayor of Medellín were joined by those of the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano Aponte, who assures that FARC dissidents also participate in demonstrations in Cali, who would be the real culprits of the acts of vandalism recorded over the past three days.

Through a series of messages posted via his Twitter account, the security portfolio manager pointed out that, “We were able to determine that the criminal acts committed in Cali correspond to terrorist organizations such as the ‘JM19’ movement, ‘Luis Otero Cifuentes’ and the dissident group Farc ‘Gentil Duarte’. We are making progress in the investigations to prosecute those responsible ”.

Although Molano did not present any arguments or evidence to support this claim, if he thanked the nearly 600 citizens who contacted the line 3116253670 to report various acts of violence during the marches in the capital of the Valle del Cauca. It must therefore be deduced that inside information was obtained both from this source and from the 23 people captured for vandalism.

In view of this, he reiterated the Government’s decision to strengthen the presence of the police force in the city, where there are currently 4,000,000 soldiers and police. These are tasks such as surveillance of the streets of Cali, security for the restoration of cleaning services and support for supply services.

“A democratic state takes into account all citizens. Those who walk and those who don’t, guarantee rights, without allowing vandalism. The population has in the public force the authority which guarantees tranquilityMolano added, insisting that the patrol and surveillance work will continue throughout this Saturday, May 1, when new marches are recorded in the city for International Labor Day.

It should be noted that, according to the latest government report, just yesterday in the capital of Valle del Cauca, three stations of the MIO public transport system and one CAI were vandalized, as well as six police officers injured. In addition, and according to the Human Rights Network Francisco Isaías Cifuentes (FIC) there are at least 14 civilians dead, of which seven are confirmed and around 28 with gunshot wounds.

All these deaths, assure these organizations, is believed to be linked to cases of police violence presented in areas such as Calypso and El Diamante, east of the city, in addition to one in the Meléndez sector, to the south, where the MIO station was also set on fire on Friday. In addition, the FIC ensures that there are files of 84 people taken to police stations, three people missing since April 28, 2 since April 30.

However, Molano assures that the story is different. “Regarding the homicides, there is a homicide in the Calipso neighborhood, it is under investigation, and there are agitators who intend to report this death to the police.. Those who attack citizens, buses, stations, do not leave with the intention of protesting, they leave with the intention of killing our police officers ”.

This all comes after one of the most difficult nights for the city, during which violent clashes were reported, armed and even without electricity in the sectors mentioned and in others such as Portada al Mar, west of the city.
