The state of California pbaded a law that would come into force in January 2020 that would change the situation of independent contractors who should become direct jobs. The measure affects among other workers those who use Uber and Lyft.

In California alone, there are nearly a million independent contractors – who operate not only under Uber, Lyft and these systems – but also synagogues and small churches, cleaning staff, manicures and people without a fixed job, who oppose the new law

In the United States, the mentality of non-dependence is very marked. Thus, domestic workers do not have to be virgins and no law protects them, unlike in Argentina.

That is why, in the case of Uber and Lyft, this new California law would exclude them from this system and the workers who use these applications are opposed to regulation.

The measure will require these companies to guarantee, among other things, a minimum wage, overtime pay, unemployment insurance and paid sick leave.

Culturally in the United States, the law makes a lot of noise and it is feared that it will spread to other states.
