The CanSino vaccine is one of the formulas contracted by Argentina. The first shipment was completed on Friday: 200,000 doses out of a total volume estimated at 5.4 million applications by 2021.

Possible combination with Sputnik

Although this vaccine envisages a single dose, the pharmaceutical company decided a few weeks ago to administer a second application in a phase 3 trial. The results now seem to support the strengthening of the device. The lab even explored the possibility of a third application to combine with other productions.

In this sense, studies have shown that for those who received two injections of inactivated virus vaccines (like that of Sinopharm, which is applied in Argentina), the use of CanSino as a booster generated antibody levels “several times higher than the products due to the booster application of other doses of vaccine to inactivated viruses “.

In addition, he reiterated that his vaccine is “very secure which provides lasting protection – over six months – prevents hospitalization and death in 90% of the people to whom it is applied “.

With the first batch sent to the country, CanSino vaccines join others already administered in Argentina: Sputnik V, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca and Covishield.

Amid delays in delivery of the second component of Sputnik, the national government explored the possibility that CanSino could work to complete the program for those who have already received the first dose of the Russian vaccine.

So far, after evaluating a study conducted in the city and province of Buenos Aires, Argentina has approved the use of Moderna vaccines (the remainder after use in adolescents with ailments) and AstraZeneca vaccines in combine with Sputnik.
