the AirCar became the first flying car traveling from airports Slovak towns of Nitra and Bratislava. The vehicle, a hybrid between car and plane, drove 80 kilometers in 35 minutes, a third of what it takes to cover that distance by land. After landing and folding its wings, the AirCar continued to circulate on the road.

“This flight ushers in a new era of dual transport vehicles. It opens up a new category of transport and gives the individual the freedom associated with cars,” Stefan Klein, the creator of AirCar, said in a statement, which celebrated that “the machine was working perfectly”.

“After landing, with a single click, the plane turned into a sports car in less than 3 minutes“, said the inventor. In the images of the flight, we observe how the prototype flies accompanied by two light planes and after landing it folds its wings and tail to circulate on the ground.

The AirCar Prototype 1 is equipped with a BMW 160 hp engine with a fixed propeller and one parachute.

During the 40 hours of flight During the test phases, the vehicle reached a height of approximately 2,500 meters and a speed of 190 kilometers per hour.

Four years ago, Klein introduced the Aeromobil 4.0 prototype, an older AirCar model, which transforms into a regular vehicle in less than three minutes.

So far the creator of the AirCar did not provide information on the future marketing of the vehicle, which must still exceed 50 flight hours.

Klein will manufacture a second prototype with slight adjustments to the design and with greater power, which will allow him to achieve greater speed. With this model, the designer hopes to obtain the certificate of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
