It seemed like it would be a sunny and quiet day in New York, until a steam pipe exploded in the middle of Manhattan near the famous Flatiron. The explosion filled with smoke and debris the intersection between 5th Avenue and 21st Street, turning the usually bustling place into a "steamed ghost town" according to the site of the NBC channel

The explosion occurs almost exactly 11 years later following the explosion of a steam pipe near Grand Central on July 18, 2007. Then a pipeline of More than 80 years had exploded and the explosion had projected debris on the 40th floor of some buildings in the area.
