The Chavista candidate for governor of the border state of Táchira, in western Venezuela, Freddy Bernal, announced on Monday that the national leadership of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv) could ignore the results of the primary elections and impose different candidates on the winners of the internal consultation.

“That a compatriot has won the primaries in one of the 29 municipalities does not imply that he is automatically a candidate for mayor. Because? It’s simple. One thing is the internal debate and another is the battle around November 21. And we have the obligation to see by November 21, how to win each of the 29 mayors of the state of Táchira “said Bernal, who also holds the post of “protector” of this regional entity, assigning powers over Tachi’s current president, the opposition Laidy Gómez.

He also indicated that the national leadership of Psuv will analyze, carry out surveys, projections, examinations and make the best decisions for victory ”.

These statements occur after a primary election between Chavistas, marked by violence and allegations of fraud. Besides the obvious demonstration of the internal divisions between the dictator Nicolás Maduro and the first vice-president of Psuv, Diosdado Cabello, who present themselves as their candidates to take political control in key regions of the country, such as the border, the mining area. , among others.

CHAVISMO WILL CONSIDER APPLICATIONS

Diosdado Cabello announced on Monday that they will “consider” the candidacies of at least seven states in Venezuela, because they do not meet the parameters of the primary elections which were held on Sunday. for the regional and municipal elections next November.

Cabello explained in a press conference that candidates had to get 50 percent of the vote, at least, and a difference of 10 points from second place, established in the party’s internal regulations.

“(The) 50% is not easy to remove in an election where you have 20 candidates, so the political command has decided that it will no longer be a minimum of 50% for governors, but that it will be 40%. This is a scale that we have established and it must also ensure that it is more than 10 points ahead of second place “, he stressed.

This condition has also been changed for candidatures for Venezuelan city halls, where candidates must obtain 35% of the votes and also the difference of 10%.

“We want to consolidate the unitary candidacies, which are reinforced, that the conditions which existed in the countryside benefit above all revolutionary unity, that there are no irreconcilable positions and that a group goes in one direction and another group in the other. here is the review “, added.

Cabello announced that the “revision” will be made in the candidacies for governors of Apure, Aragua, Bolívar, Cojedes, Monagas, Nueva Esparta and Trujillo, as they did not meet either of the two scales.

“Reviewing doesn’t mean you eliminate either; We assess the electoral conditions, the electoral alliances with the Grand Pôle Patriotique (GPP) and we take the decisions. We have until August 29 to register the candidates “he explained.

Other criteria will be the “political reality” of states and municipalities, such as for example the “strength” of an opposition candidate against Chavismo, if the one postulated by the GPP “exceeds” the PSUV candidate or s ‘there are complaints about alleged irregularities or arbitrariness “and they are proven by evidence, we make the decision”.

“We assessed the behavior of our candidates, we saw weaknesses and it was recorded. We always get complaints from people who think they own everything and crush others. They have everything but revolutionary behavior “, Held.

On Sunday, the PSUV held its primary elections to choose the candidates for governor and mayor who will be elected on November 21.

Cabello celebrated participation in the primaries, open to Chavismo activists and sympathizers without a PSUV card, which numbered 5.5 million people.

However, he assured that due to the high turnout, only 3.5 million people finally voted, as many, seeing the lines, said “no, I’m not going to vote”.
