Chavismo says he can ignore primary results and impose regional election candidates in Venezuela

The Chavista candidate for governor of the border state of Táchira, in western Venezuela, Freddy Bernal, announced on Monday that the national leadership of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv) could ignore the results of the primary elections and impose different candidates on the winners of the internal consultation.

CHAVISMO WILL CONSIDER APPLICATIONS

Diosdado Cabello announced on Monday that they will “consider” the candidacies of at least seven states in Venezuela, because they do not meet the parameters of the primary elections which were held on Sunday. for the regional and municipal elections next November.

Cabello explained in a press conference that candidates had to get 50 percent of the vote, at least, and a difference of 10 points from second place, established in the party’s internal regulations.

This condition has also been changed for candidatures for Venezuelan city halls, where candidates must obtain 35% of the votes and also the difference of 10%.
