Chile launched plan to vaccinate more than 500,000 teachers against coronavirus in order to guarantee face-to-face lessons

Yesterday, in the municipality of La Florida, in Santiago de Chile, the vaccination plan for teachers and members of the educational community was launched. The workers of 26 municipal schools and 194 private campuses in the municipality have already received the first dose, as confirmed by the president of the College of Teachers, Carlos Díaz. And from this Monday, February 15, the mass vaccination of the sector will begin.

The country has maintained an average of 4,000 new infections daily for weeks, and deaths hover between 50 and 100. In total, Chile has accumulated 772,395 cases and 19,443 deaths since March 3, when the first outbreak of covid -19 has been recorded.

According to the authorities, the government of Chile has committed nearly $ 300 million in vaccines with various laboratories around the world. It has made deals to purchase around 36 million doses with Pfizer, Sinovac, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca.
