Chile plans to reopen its borders from October

The drop in coronavirus cases prompted Chilean authorities to start analyzing the possibility of reopening border crossings. “We believe that in October we will have changes in border control and that other international airports such as Antofagasta or Concepción will be opened,” said the Minister of Health of the neighboring country, Enrique Paris.

“If there is no evidence of a significant increase in cases, we consider that land and air crossings could be permitted. In this way, it will be possible to move forward with the entry of foreigners, but with a rigorous protocol, ”added the trans – Andean official.

The news is good news for the authorities and businessmen of Mendoza, who are eagerly awaiting the reopening of the borders which will allow the arrival of Chilean tourists in the province. The biggest issue now is how the quarantine will be implemented in the two corridors.

Paris did not want to put forward a specific date, but indicated that October would be the chosen month: “I cannot say that the stages are activated on October 1, what I can assure you is that if the figures remain good, that is to say without multiplying the cases, we will study a cautious and gradual opening of the border. “
