Inflation in Chile accelerated more than expected in May, due to higher costs in the recreation and culture, housing and basic services sectors.

Consumer prices rose 2.3% over the previous year, reported Friday the National Institute of Statistics, compared with the average estimate of 2.2% of badysts interviewed by Bloomberg. The Central Bank expects annual inflation to reach 2.6% by the end of 2019. Prices rose by 0.6% during the month.
