China violated Taiwan air defense zone with a sortie of 28 fighter jets

Taiwan’s Defense Ministry today denounced that 28 Chinese fighter jets passed the Taiwanese Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on Tuesday, the highest number in a single day since he began making such sorties last September.

According to a defense statement, this is a Y-8 anti-submarine plane, one Y-8 reconnaissance plane, four H-6 bombers, two KJ-500 radar planes, six J-11 fighters and 14 J-16 fighters.

The Taiwanese Air Force issued radio warnings and mobilized its units until Chinese planes left the area, the note added.

This new Chinese air mission was the largest outing since the ministry began reporting regularly on Chinese Air Force activities in Taiwan’s ADIZ last year, breaking the previous record of 25 aircraft reported. April 12 of this year.

The number of Chinese military planes entering Taiwan’s ADIZ has increased in recent months, and this latest incursion came after the G7 mentioned in a statement “the preservation of stability in the Taiwan Strait” as one of its priorities.

China condemned on Monday the G7 communiqué adopted at the end of its last summit in Carbis Bay (United Kingdom) by declaring “Distorts the facts” on various issues, including Taiwan, “to deliberately smear China.”

“The statement interferes in China’s internal affairs, which violates standards governing international relations. We are very unhappy and we strongly oppose it, ”the ministry added.

Tensions between Beijing and Taipei increased dramatically under the tenure of former US President Donald Trump, who focused on strengthening relations with Taiwan, including arms sales, despite the fact that in 1979 Washington broke off its relations with Taipei, which became informal after recognizing the People’s Republic.

Last April, Joe Biden’s government reaffirmed its support for the island at a meeting held in Taipei by three former senior U.S. officials with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, to which Beijing responded with military exercises in the region.

Taiwan has been considered a sovereign territory with its own government and political system under the name of the Republic of China since the end of the civil war between nationalists and communists in 1949, but Beijing maintains that it is a province rebel and insists that she return to what is called the common homeland.
