The report “was approved and accepted in a historic first virtual endorsement session,” the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said on Twitter.

Members of the IPCC have met since July 26 behind closed doors to negotiate in great detail the “summary (to be given) to decision-makers” of this assessment, seven years after the last, reported the AFP news agency.

Amid a string of disasters across the globe, from flooding in Germany and China to massive fires in Europe and North America, scientists will unveil their new climate assessments and predictions on Monday for rising global temperatures, rising sea ​​level and other extremes. events.

The intergovernmental nature of the IPCC has at times led to accusations of government interference in the work of scientists.
