In this regard, Leonardo Arregocés, director of drugs of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, explained that yesterday after the arrival of vaccines, when examining the registers of devices that enter inside the boxes , which allow constant monitoring of the temperature of the contents, a slight increase in temperature has been detected above that recommended by the manufacturer For transport.

During the transport of the vaccine to the department of Tolima, the temperature was 2 to 8 ° C from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., but, between 11:30 a.m. and 12:55 p.m., the temperature reaches 9.3 ° C, i.e. 1.3 ° C above the recommended transport temperature for one hour and 25 minutes.

He also stated that the decision to temporarily suspend vaccination was taken as a preventive measure, whereas, as stated in the technical guidelines document of the National Immunization Plan Invima, as the governing body responsible for inspection and surveillance, will conduct the investigation and make the decision.

Likewise, Arregocés explained that with the data available to the Ministry of Health on the stability of this vaccine the product is presumed stable and intact since studies show that organic retains its properties at temperatures up to 25 ° C for up to 14 days.

In this case, the official added: “Invima, since 2017, has a procedure for evaluating situations of loss of storage conditions and transportation. In this context, Invima will assess the file and give the order to release the lot based on the findings. “
