The Ministry of Health and Social Protection reported: this Sunday, May 30, 20,218 new cases of covid-19 in Colombia. In the last 24 hours, 79,045 tests which 51,012 threads PCR and 28.033 of antigens.

The report also notes that 535 colombians died of the disease within the last 24 hours. In this way, the country reaches a total of 88,282 deaths since the virus reached the national territory.

Regarding the regions with the most reported cases, Bogota leads with 7,204 infected, followed by Antioquia with 3189 and in third place Santander with 1.391.

There are 794 conglomerates in the country. The territories are: Amazonas, Antioquia (Ituango), Arauca, Atlántico, Barranquilla, Bogotá, Boyacá, Bolívar, Buenaventura, Caldas, Caquetá, Cartagena, Casanare, Cauca, Cesar, Chocó, Córdoba, Cundinamarca, Huila, La Guajira, Meta, Nariño, Norte de Santander, Putumayo, Quindío, Risaralda, San Andrés, Santa Marta, Santander, Sucre, Tolima, Valle, Vaupés, Vichada, Guaviare and Guainía.

At the 74th World Health Assembly, Colombia said that, as it has stated on previous occasions, the implementation of the Global Strategy and Plan of Action on Public Health, Innovation and intellectual property is essential to advance the current problem of access to medicines. .

“While we recognize the achievements, we draw attention to the acceleration of progress in specific actions and concrete products which respond to the recommendations of the Committee and which correspond to the established indicators”, said Luis Alexander Moscoso Osorio, Deputy Minister of Public Health and Services.

Likewise, he stressed the importance of sharing broad and timely information on these actions and products among Member States.

“The effective and timely implementation of these recommendations is of particular importance in the current emergency due to covid-19, the need for which to strengthen drug and vaccine research and development has become evident, in the goal of strengthening equitable access. >>Moscoso said.

In this sense, the national government recognizes the resolution on strengthening local production of medicines and other health technologies to improve access, as a great contribution not only to the achievement of the objectives of the global strategy and the action plan on public health, innovation. and intellectual property, but also as a valuable tool to deal with current and future health emergencies.

“The covid-19 vaccine must be recognized as a global public good and, as part of this approach, the necessary steps must be taken to ensure efficient, rapid, safe and efficient access, including the exchange of information, technology transfer., Technical assistance for innovation ”, underlined the Colombian vice-minister.
