Likewise, an increase in the vaccination rate was detected, where for the day a total of 330,694 doses were applied, of which 225,672 correspond to the second injection.

As part of the covid-19 health emergency, the national government issued Decree 697 of 2021, which establishes the health requirements for receiving donations such as drugs, supplies, vaccines, devices or equipment. biomedical, among others, for pandemic care.

Germán Escobar, chief of staff of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, explained that the document specifies the minimum quality conditions of these products required by the competent health authority, which is Invima, for their entry into the country.

“Products which do not have health registration at the time of donation, for example, or which are in the experimentation phase, must ask Invima to examine the scientific, quality and safety documentation allowing their importation” , Escobar added.

In the case of vaccines under development and not having a health registration, they must have authorization for emergency use by Invima with import authorization, in order to guarantee the full quality of these pharmaceutical products, so that they can be applied safely at home.

Finally, he recalled that “these donations are part of the free and their subsequent marketing is not considered, in any case, after having received them”
