Daily number of coronavirus infected in Israel fell below 200 people, while the proportion of positive tests reached a minimum of 0.3%. This means that the country appears to have obtained collective immunity.

The news was published by the biologist at the Weizmann Institute, Eran Segal, who said that “the number of daily cases decreased by 97% after the vaccination campaign”.

For the time being, 5.3 million inhabitants have already been vaccinated, more than half of the population of the Hebrew country. Meanwhile, another 830,000 people fell ill with the coronavirus, bringing the total potentially vaccinated to 68%.

If Leshem and Segal’s assumptions are confirmed, Israel could be the first country in the world to reach the herd of collective immunity. The decline in infections has not been reversed even by mass mobilizations during the Purim and Passover holidays.
