Coronavirus in Mexico as of June 18, 2021: 167 new deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours

In the afternoon of this Friday, June 18, 2021, the Mexican health authorities shared the daily technical report on the presence of the virus SARS-CoV-2 in the country. In this sense, they confirmed the existence of 2,471,741 confirmed cases accumulated, as well as 230,959 regrettable deaths since the start of the pandemic on the national territory.

In this sense, according to the numbers, in the last 24 hours 4,098 new people reported symptomatic picture linked to COVID-19 disease and tested positive. Of the same shape, there were 167 new deaths on the last day.

Entities with higher number of positive deaths, that is to say that have been associated with the presence of the new coronavirus in patients, these are the Mexico City, State of Mexico, Jalisco, Puebla and Guanajuato. On the contrary, Campeche, Colima, Baja California Sur, Chiapas and Nayarit are the entities which had the least incidence in this area.

Meanwhile, on the sixth day of epidemiological week number 22, the authorities reported the existence of 2,656,526 estimated cases. On the other hand, they are already 1,966,702 patients who recovered and received medical discharge after showing symptoms related to the disease.

Nowadays, 7,308,357 people were notified to the National Epidemiological Surveillance System. Out of the total number of screening tests applied 4,400,813 gave a negative result. In addition, the number of positives could increase in the coming hours because the existence of 435,803 suspected cases is estimated totals.

The people who submitted symptom linked to COVID-19 in the Last 14 days They are considered active cases. In this sense, at today’s deadline, the existence of 25,645 patients who can transmit the virus due to its epidemic activity. Mexico City (6,972) leads this statistic, followed by Tabasco (2,333), Baja California Sur (2,176) and Yucatán (2,113). In total they are eight states which concentrate 74% of active cases in the country.

Quintana Roo, Tamaulipas and Nuevo León are above 30% but have not exceeded 40% of their capacity. In addition, 17 entities appear on the occupancy list between 10% and 29%. Meanwhile, eleven states are reporting rates below 10 percent. The five entities with the most beds available are Tlaxcala, Zacatecas, Querétaro, Guanajuato and Chiapas.

On the other hand, in beds with ventilation support, that is to say for the management of patients in intensive therapy, it has been confirmed that Yucatán (48.46%) Baja California Sur (42.21%) and Tabasco (34.71%) they are the only states with an occupancy rate above 30% and below 40%. Thirteen states are part of the group with an occupancy rate between 10% and 29%, while 16 entities are less than 10% occupancy. Morelos, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Guerrero and Zacatecas are the states with the greatest availability.

According to information released via the Twitter profile of Hugo López-Gatell, Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, on June 17 519,874 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been applied. Of the total, 117,622 were destined for the border area with the United States. In this way, to date 39,153,336 injections of one of the five biologics were administered which make up the vaccination directory throughout the country.

In recent days, health authorities have warned of a rebound in the number of positive cases in some parts of the country. In view of this, It is recommended to take care of sanitary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
