Coronavirus in Mexico February 11: in 24 hours, 1,474 people died

José Luis Alomía Zegarra, director general of epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (SSa), reported that this February 10 there is already 171,234 deaths confirmed in Mexico due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In other words, in the past 24 hours there have been 1,474 deaths.

From the National Palace, he pointed out that Mexico City and the State of Mexico are the entities with the greatest number of active cases Estimates (with start date of the last 14 days by the positivity index, by entity and epidemiological week). On a national level 67,049 such infections are calculated.

In addition, there are more than 2000 suspicious deaths that could add up to the total in the next few hours. They also counted the patients 1,528,304 recovered and, on the other hand, are recorded 85,332 people with a complete immunization schedule (application of two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech antigen).

Mexico City records most of the accumulated cases in the country and alone accounts for 26% of all recorded cases by entity of residence. The sex distribution of confirmed cases shows a predominant in men (50.1%). The overall median age is 43 years.

The Mexico City, State of Mexico, Guanajuato and Morelos are the entities with the highest number of active cases, followed by Nuevo León Querétaro, Jalisco, Puebla, Tabasco, Coahuila, San Luis Potosí and Baja California Sur, as entities with more than 1,000 active cases and which together account for 81% of active cases in the country.

In contrast, the sex distribution of confirmed deaths shows a prevalence of 63% among men. The median age of death is 64.

Hospital profession

According to the manager, until Thursday there is a 46% of bed occupancy nationwide (both general care and ventilator).

Regarding the beds of general hospitalization, details that there are 46% of occupied spaces in the country. The two states with more than 70% occupancy are:

– Mexico City (76%)

– State of Mexico (73%)

Likewise, there are six states with an occupancy between 69% and 50% and 24 with less than 50% occupancy. That is to say, Of the 34,253 beds in total, 18,360 are available and 15,893 are inhabited.

Likewise, there are 27 entities with less than 50% occupancy and four have between 69% and 50% inhabited beds with ventilators. The entities with a decreasing trend are:

– Aguascalientes (55%)

– Tlaxcala (50%)

Vaccine advance

For his part, the Under-Secretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, said it had been recorded that 335 doses had been applied on February 11.

In sum, 725,447 vaccines have been injected to date. Of this total, 622,658 were first doses for health workers and 85,332 were second doses.

He noted that 31 states have completed application of the 100% dose, i.e. there has been an overall progress of 94% during this first stage.

In contrast, 766,350 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech were received, including 999 (0.13%) were lost and there are 6,940 reserve doses among the Incas. However, 100% of the first five shipments of the antigen were applied and the last one arrived on January 19, 78% were occupied.
