Coronavirus in Mexico on April 3: 1,838 new cases and 157 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours

The afternoon of this Saturday April 3, 2021, the authorities of the Ministry of Health reported the existence of 157 new deaths from COVID-19 disease in past 24 hours. With this, a total of 204,011 death since the start of the health emergency.

However, it is also envisaged 20,528 deaths that could be associated with COVID-19 disease, they are therefore considered suspect. In this sense, 4,096 samples from these patients are waiting to be studied in the laboratory, as well as 16,432 which already have a result, but are waiting to be delivered by the National Epidemiological Surveillance System.

According to the graph which records the mortality rate, the panorama of the last epidemiological week (SE) continues its downward trend after peak reached on January 3. In fact, a new all-time low was recorded, as it surpassed the lowest figure reached during EW 41, in the last third of 2020.

Meanwhile, according to the data of the written technical report, in the last 24 hours, 1,838 new cases were registered, with which there is a total of 2,249,195 infections confirmed accumulated since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, 438,480 people were listed as suspects. Of the same shape, 6,133,559 people were studied and 3,445,884 tests returned negative for contagion.

However, there is also 1,785,643 cases of people who have recovered and obtained medical leave after treating the symptoms. On another side, 26,293 people experienced symptoms in the last 14 days, Therefore, they are considered active cases and may contribute to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus among the rest of the population.

In this regard, statistics are led by Mexico City (10,526), ​​the State of Mexico (2,711), Guanajuato (10.26) and Puebla (1,013). These are the only four entities with more than 1,000 cases. In addition, they concentrate 58 percent of the total nationwide.

On the contrary, four entities record low levels of epidemic activity. These are Campeche, with 89 active cases, Chiapas with the same number, Nayarit with 64 and Colima with 63 to the cut made this Saturday. In fact, three of them are in the green color of the hazard traffic light, while Colima is the only entity painted in yellow.

The health authorities have made the decision to readjust the vaccination tactics. With him, before the possible arrival of a third wave of infections and with the intention of reducing its impact, the available biological resources will be used, mainly, in the Megalopolis area made up of Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo and Querétaro.

It must be remembered that vaccination in other entities will not be interrupted. In addition, roadrunner brigades from other states will not be relocated to the center of the country. The only change will be to send more doses to the six states mentioned.

If deaths and infections have declined in recent weeks, mass mobility could be the cause of a further rise in these numbers. Under these conditions, the authorities of the Ministry of Health recommended continuing prevention and healthy distance measures despite the vaccination campaign.
