The Italian Council of Ministers has approved a new decree that will allow full capacity in cinemas and theaters from October 11, and the opening of nightclubs with 75 percent outdoors and 50 percent indoors, before the progress of vaccination and the control of coronavirus infections.

The decree also provides for a capacity of 60 percent in indoor sporting events and 75 percent in open space. This relaxation will occur in so-called “white” areas, that is, those that have no restrictions because infections are controlled.

In all these spaces, participants will have to wear a mask and will be subjected to temperature checks, in addition to presenting their covid passport, which is obtained when the disease has passed, they are vaccinated with the full schedule or a negative test in them. 72 hours previous.

The decree provides for tougher penalties for the managers of these spaces who do not respect the limits concerning the capacity of the public in the structures.

In cinemas and theaters, one meter distance between spectators should be guaranteed, while in discos and dance halls managers should have ventilation systems without air recirculation. In museums, on the other hand, it will no longer be necessary to respect the interpersonal distance of at least one meter.

Italian Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, welcomed the decision and said these places of recreation are safe, if those who access them have the covid passport, wear masks and are subjected to temperature control. “We invite Italians to relive culture in peace and security”, he assured.

Italy has accumulated 4.7 million infections since the pandemic broke out in the country in February 2020 and among these, 131,198 people died. Regarding vaccination, 85,792,497 doses were inoculated and 43,030,314 people received the full schedule, equivalent to 79.67% of the population over 12 years of age.
