Coronavirus map in Mexico February 21: Guanajuato is already the third state with the most active infections behind CDMX and Edomex

Mexico reached 2,038,276 cumulative COVID-19 cases, after registration 7,785 new infections in the last 24 hours; Likewise, deaths from complications of this disease have increased to 179,797 after reporting 832 deaths the day before.

However, there is also 1,590,696 people who have recovered and obtained medical discharge, so that the corresponding curve shows a decrease in 13% during the seventh epidemiological week, while the curve of estimated cases (sum of confirmed and suspected infections) at the national level fell by one 20% in the same period.

On the other hand, during the press conference to report on the evolution of the disease in Mexico, Dr. Christian Arturo Zaragoza Jiménez, Director of Epidemiological Information, announced that 56,533 people (3%) have had symptoms within the last 14 days, for which they are considered active cases and may contribute to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus among the rest of the population, provided all measures are not taken sanitary facilities.

In this sense, according to the epidemiological document, Mexico City and the State of Mexico are the entities with the highest number of active cases, followed by Guanajuato, Querétaro, Nuevo León, Puebla, Jalisco, Tabasco, Morelos and San Luis Potosí, which together represent 77% of active cases in the country.

This is reflected in the colors of the epidemiological fire which will remain until February 28, where Guerrero and Guanajuato are the only entities red (maximum risk); Campeche, Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango, Tamaulipas and Tabasco in yellow (Medium risk); and only Chiapas remains in verde (Low risk).

In Orange (high risk): Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Puebla, Oaxaca, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, Nayarit, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosí, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Baja California Sur, Veracruz, Yucatán, Zacatecas and Quintana Roo. For the moment, no entity has changed color.

Regarding the saturation of hospitals, Zaragoza Jiménez, reported that the 35% of general beds in the country are occupied, therefore of the 32,185 beds without assisted ventilation, 11,240 are in service and 20,945 are available.

The Mexico City has 60% occupation, Puebla 57%, and the State of Mexico 56%. The rest of the states have less than 50% occupancy.

Regarding beds with fan, national occupancy has been placed at 38%, that is to say that of the 11,473 beds with fans available in Mexico, 4,343 are occupied and 7,130 are available.

The Mexico City reported an occupancy rate of 65%, followed by the State of Mexico with 49% and Nuevo León with 45%, entities that are part of the 31 with less than 50% saturation.

As for the dead, until yesterday there were 20,307 presumed deaths from COVID-19 which include the slopes by laboratory (n = 4,137) and those in the process of association – clinical – epidemiological judgment (n = 16,170) in SISVER.

In this context, the Mexico City, State of Mexico, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Puebla, Nuevo León, Veracruz, Baja California, Sonora and Coahuila sand they are among the 10 entities with the highest number of deaths and which together represent more than half (64.5%) of all those in the country.

With the numbers above, Mexico ranks thirteenth in the world for the number of infections and the third with the most deaths by the pandemic, behind the United States and Brazil, according to the American University Johns Hopkins.

It is noteworthy that so far they have been applied 1,656,304 doses of COVID-19 vaccine throughout Mexico.
