Russia has tried nasal spray form of its Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine which is suitable for ages 8 to 12 and plans to launch the new product in September.

Alexandre gintsbourg, who heads the Gamaleya institute that developed the Russian vaccine, explained that the children’s aerosol uses the same vaccine, “only instead of a needle, a nozzle is attached.” Additionally, he announced that they plan to have this new development by September 15.

Researchers tested the vaccine in children aged 8 to 12 and found no side effects in the test group, not even an increase in body temperature.

“We inoculate our little ones (patients) through the nose, we just give the same vaccine as a nasal spray,” Gintsburg said, without giving more details about the study, such as the number of children who took part.

The development of the vaccination campaign in the world affects minors. China is preparing to vaccinate children from the age of three, becoming the first country in the world to vaccinate the youngest.

A spokesperson for the Sinovac laboratory, which produces one of the three injectables authorized in the Asian country, indicated that its Coronavac vaccine could be distributed to minors.

“The Sinovac vaccine (the use of) has been approved in recent days for ages 3 to 17,” he said without specifying when the first doses would be given. The pharmaceutical company has completed its clinical trials in children and adolescents, the results of which are to be published by the British magazine The Lancetadded.
