The Ministry of Health and Social Protection reported: this Thursday 6 May 16.490 new cases of covid-19 in Colombia. In the last 24 hours, 74,649 tests which 45,970 threads PCR and 28,679 on antigens.
The report also notes that, 399 Colombians died of the disease within the last 24 hours. In this way, the country reaches a total of 76,414 deaths since the virus reached the national territory.
By clustering all the figures, Colombia has reached 2,951,101 infected people, of which 91.703 These are active cases and 2,773,220 correspond to positive cases who have already overcome the disease.
Regarding the regions with the most reported cases, Bogota leads with 4,724 infected, followed by Antioquia with 2106 and in third place Barranquilla with 890.
There are 1,270 conglomerates in the country. The territories are: Amazonas, Antioquia (Ituango), Arauca, Atlántico, Barranquilla, Bogotá, Boyacá, Bolívar, Buenaventura, Caldas, Caquetá, Cartagena, Casanare, Cauca, Cesar, Chocó, Córdoba, Cundinamarca, Huila, La Guajira, Meta, Nariño, Norte de Santander, Putumayo, Quindío, Risaralda, San Andrés, Santa Marta, Santander, Sucre, Tolima, Valle, Vaupés, Vichada, Guaviare and Guainía.
The most recent report from the Ministry of Health also states that, until midnight on May 5, they had already been applied in Colombia. a total of 5,742,052 doses of the covid-19 vaccine.
According to the same report, the number of fully vaccinated Colombians, i.e. those who have already received two doses of biological product, It currently has 2,053,792 people.
Likewise, an increase in the vaccination rate was detected, where for the day, a total of 152,929 doses were applied, which 79.842 correspond to the second injection.
In the last hours, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, announced via his Twitter account that teachers and administrative support staff of higher education institutions would be prioritized in the third stage of the national plan vaccination against covid-19.
This inclusion is part of the draft decree that will amend Decree 109 of 2021, under which the plan is regulated, and in which new co-morbidities and other risk groups will be added, as recently announced.
Julián Alfredo Fernández Niño, director of epidemiology and demography of the Health portfolio, assured that the amendment is a “recognition of the entire right to education and the need to extend the protection that the decree gives to the reactivation of educational establishments, from initial education to secondary education, to higher education ”.
“Recognizing that vaccination can contribute to the gradual and safe return of presence in higher education”, he stressed.
Universities are fundamental spaces for socialization, training, cultural exchange and the building of knowledge to transform society; and its young student population, such as children and adolescents, has been affected in their mental health and psychosocial development due to the pandemic, which is why a safe reactivation of the education sector is needed.
Fernández explained that once the decree is signed, technical guidelines will be published specifying the conditions for inclusion and how this process will take place in practice.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection, for the sake of fairness, in accordance with scientific evidence and in response to requests and comments received, with this adjustment “responds to the exhortation of several university teachers and rectors, who had asked to be included in the prioritization in phase III of the national vaccination plan, ”said the official.
