Covid: Chile has started vaccination among the elderly

Chile started on Monday the vaccination against coronavirus in the elderly at the national level, while the Ministry of Health announced the entry into quarantine of several localities due to the increase in infections.

The first person to be vaccinated was Laura Areyuna, 79 in, who lives in the long-term care facility for the elderly (Eleam) in the town of La Serena, 470 kilometers north of Santiago.

Older adults received the first dose of the vaccine Pfizer / BioNtech against the coronavirus and, according to Octavio Vergara, national director of the National Service for the Elderly (Senama), there are 3,500 elderly people in these Eleam in seven regions of the country.
