Customer Wins $ 5.5 Million Bar Lawsuit For Getting Too Drunk

A man from the town of Andrews (Texas, USA) received a millionaire compensation of 5$ 5 million from La Fogata Mexican Grill bar and restaurant, by winning a civil lawsuit he filed for letting him drink excessively.

According to the guest, The bar was negligent in serving him too much alcohol, causing him great drunkenness which caused him to have an argument with another customer and injure himself.

The plaintiff, Daniel Rawls, filed a complaint for the incident on May 17, 2019 and the decision came on July 27, with surprise that the court granted the man’s claims and awarded him compensation for the millionaire.

Rawls received a total of $ 5.5 million for five claims, including facility liability, negligence and damages resulting from foreseeable criminal behavior.. The 109th Andrews County District Court ruled in favor of Rawls in a default judgment, which means the owner of La Fogata did not respond to the trial or attend the hearing..

La Fogata has 30 days to file a notice of appeal in accordance with Texas Rules of Appeal Procedure.

Rawls has a history of heavy drinking. Andrews prison records show he was arrested twice, in February 2019 and in May of this year, for public intoxication.
