Democracy in the region, economy and climate change, the themes of the summit between Alberto Fernández and Sullivan

Throughout his interview with Sullivan – who is the principal international policy adviser and responsible for coordinating U.S. foreign policy – various issues of bilateral interest were discussed, such as take care of the environment and climate change, review financial institutions and fight the pandemic.

The meeting also discussed the relevance of building response capacities in the fight against Covid-19, as well as Argentina’s potential for the production and distribution of vaccines.

The President handed the US official a letter to President Biden thanking him for the donation received from the US of 3.5 million doses of the Moderna vaccine and outlining the impact this will have on the vaccination campaign in Argentina in progress.

Another of the topics discussed was the need to promote new global fiscal and financial architecture according to the challenges and requirements of sustainable, inclusive and united human development.

Sullivan arrived in Olivos with Juan Gonzalez, director for the Western Hemisphere of the White House. Ricardo Zuniga, special envoy for the Northern Triangle (El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras) and Mary kay carlson, operates out of the United States Embassy in Buenos Aires.

During the morning, Sullivan held a meeting at Government House with several national ministers, including the Secretary of Strategic Affairs Gustavo Béliz. During this meeting, topics such as the productive, technological and commercial agenda, electromobility, defense cooperation agreements, the financing agenda on environmental issues and the economic agenda of the knowledge to be developed between the two countries were discussed.
